MANILA PHILIPPINES - Manila FAME will once again treat foreign traders and buyers with a spectacular display of new products and innovative designs from Philippine exporters.
Manila F.A.M.E. International, a bi-annual exhibit organized by the Center of International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), will open next week from April 19-22.
About 483 Philippine manufacturers and exporters of furniture, home furnishings, holiday decors, jewelry and fashion accessories will be participating in this event.
Based on a survey among foreign buyers, Manila FAME received the highest rating on design and quality among major trade shows in the Asia Pacific region.
Each year, Manila FAME generates about 217.5 million US dollars in sales from booked orders from buyers around the world.
In 2005, the show contributed 15 percent of the total sales from design-driven exports equivalent to 831.42 million US dollars. Last year, about 7,000 local and foreign trade buyers attended the show.
This year's event will feature a fashion show displaying the newest designs and raw material applications for wearables slated for april 20, and a trends conference scheduled on April 21.
"We want to enhance industry and enterprise competitiveness. Our exporters worked with some of our best designers to develop innovative products for export," said Trade Assistant Secretary, Fe Agoncillo-Reyes, also head of CITEM.
"We want to develop more design-centric companies and create an industry network and a high-value added workforce to capture a bigger global market share," he said.
This year the show expects buyers from the United States, Japan, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
