How does Western Mountaineering's sleeping bag temperature rating system work?
Question: On their website, each sleeping bag has a 'temperature rating', but it doesn't actually say what this means. I am wondering if this is the absolute lowest temperature at which you can sleep in the bag, or the 'comfort temperature' advertized by most other manufacturers. I appreciate
Answer: It's suppose to be about what temp comfortable. But, I would always go with a lower temp rating than you expect to be in. For instance, if you are expecting night time lows in the 30's, I'd go with a 20, 15 or 0 degree bag. You can get more use out of a 0 degree bag if you plan
