CEBU PHILIPPINES - Bohol tourism industry continues to experience solid growth and has attracted more resort-hotels development investment projects, particularly in Panglao island.
Flushing Meadows Resort and Playground, will start operations with 35 rooms by April and plans to add 65 more rooms by the end of the year.
Flushing Meadows Resort and Playground is located on the coast of Dauis town in the world-famous Panglao island.
There are two more resorts that are under construction in Panglao island and may open before the end of the year. Existing resorts are undertaking expansion, such as Bohol Beach club - a member of Tambuli Resorts - which has added seven rooms.
"Bohol tourism has indeed started to boom," according to Department of Tourism (DOT) 7 Director Aurora Patria Roa. The rise of Bohol province as a tourism destination has positive effects on Cebu's own tourism, added Roa, dispelling fears that tourists would forget about Cebu.
Cebu and Bohol complement each other. Cebu has been the premier gateway in the Visayas region, and is critical to the development of Bohol tourism industry. Bohol's success is also Cebu's success, given that Bohol's increasing tourism brings in more traffic through Cebu.
Bohol is accessible by land, sea and air via Cebu. There are many direct international flights to Cebu. Cathay Pacific flies six times a week to Cebu from Hong Kong. Silkair flies to Cebu from Singapore twice a week, and Qatar Airlines flies from Doha three times a week.
