Philippines Halal Exports Products Expected to Reach $400 M
MANILA PHILIPPINES - The Philippines is expected to deliver $400 M worth of halal export products a year to the world market.
"Halal" means "permissible" in the Arabic languange. Halal products refer to consumables or products that Muslims are allowed to use, eat and drink.
The President of Islamic Da'wah Council of the Philippines, Abdul Rahman Linzag, said that this target is achievable now that there is a local body that can immediately certify if a product meets the Halal requirements.
The Islamic Da’wah Council was recently accredited as the only halal-certification body in the Philippines.
There are many business opportunities available to the Filipino entrepreneurs who wish to participate in the multi billion dollar global halal market, which includes the export of food products, such as meat, chicken and processed foods.
The Halal market includes Malaysia, Indonesia and Middle Eastern countries.
