Philippines Jewelry Products in High Demand among European Buyers

MANILA PHILIPPINES - The Philippines continue to be a favorite source of high quality jewelry products among European buyers.

During the recently held Vicenza Oro, an international jewelry exhibition held in Vicenza Italy, the Philippines received significant volume of orders and buyer inquiries from European retailers, wholesalers and direct importers for the European market.

Among the bestsellers from the Philippines are pearl jewelry products, sterling silver, shaegren and hinged bangles.

Trade Secretary Peter B. Favila said this is a positive sign that the Filipino manufacturers of design-driven products like jewelry could look into Europe as an exciting, high-potential market.

"We hope to get more new players in the industry who can export and meet the demand of European buyers," he added.

Favila also urged Philippine jewelry exporters to continue to look out for innovation and adapt production techniques to boost the desirability of Philippine-made jewelry products in the world market.

Twenty thousand trade buyers and visitors attended Vicenza Oro this year, predominantly from Europe and the rest from the United States, Canada, China, and the Asia Pacific.

The Philippine delegation who participated in the event is composed of six jewelry companies: 7 Castles Inc., A. Suarez Sterling Corp., Jewelmer, Mercelles Corp., Sanara Inc., and sterling Gifts Inc.
