Miss International 2005
The Winning Answer

Miss Philippines 2005, Miss International 2005, Precious Lara Quigaman

Yes, there's so much more to Miss International 2005, Miss Philippines Precious Lara Quigaman, than just beauty, poise and grace.

She is definitely blessed with intelligence, warmth, and sensitivity.

The final Q & A portion of the Miss International contest proved to be a defining moment for this 22-year old fashion model.

She captivated the Miss International judges and audience with her response to the interview, which eventually sealed her victory as Miss International 2005.

Host: "What do you say to the people of the world who have typecast Filipinos as 'nannies'?"

Miss Philppines Precious Lara Quigaman: "I take no offense on being typecast as a nanny. But I do take offense to the educated people of the world who have somehow denigrated the true sense and meaning of what a nanny is.

Let me tell you what she is. She is someone who gives more than she takes. She is someone you trust to look after the very people most precious to you - your child, the elderly, and yourself. She is the one who has made a living out of caring for and loving other people.

So to those who have typecast us as nannies, thank you. It is a testament of the loving and caring culture of the Filipino people and for that, I am forever proud and grateful of my roots and culture."

Well said, Precious. We're proud of you too! You truly deserve to win.
