Time Magazine cited Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo among the "People Who Mattered" in 2005, along with US President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney.

According to Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye, "God and the Filipino people continue to see the President through the adversities of our time. Crisis is the father of strong leadership"

The recognition given to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo proves that she is a survivor." With all the adversities she has gone through, she has always emerged as a winner. Despite the challenges she faced With the impeachment issue, the financial scandal faced by her husband and son, the rumored coup attempt and other problems on graft and corruption, President Arroyo came out unscathed.

All the difficulties the President has been going through these past few months with all these political crisis which fortunately turned into a positive note for the administration vindicated President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo through that recognition from Time Magazine.

That citation has given the President strength and inspires her more in formulating plans for our nation. The President has fought off attempts for her ouster from political opponents, however, with all humility, GMA still appeals for unity and solidarity for the good of all. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has a clear plan for the Philippines and it shall be fulfilled for the good of the Filipino people.
