The Philippine manufacturing sector grew by 5.6%, exceeding forecasts, according to Philippine Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Augusto Santos.
The growth was led by furniture and fixtures and petroleum products. Manufacturing output by volume grew at least 4 percent in the last quarter, according to the National Statistics Office.
In terms of value, manufacturing output was up 14 percent and net sales grew 8 percent in the last quarter. Overall, net sales by volume increased 2 percent in the same period.
