Puerto Princesa is the gateway to the magnificent natural attractions of the island, and the center of government, commerce and trade. The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is a World Heritage Site. This natural wonder features an 8.2 kilometer navigable underground river, which is reputed to be the longest in the world. The river winds through a spectacular cave under rugged limestone and marble cliffs, and empties into the South China Sea. Irawan Crocodile Farm in Puerto Princesca Palawan houses over a thousands of crocodiles including the two rarest crocodile species in the country - the Philippine crocodile and the saltwater crocodile - believed to have been around for more than 200 million years. Among these beautiful islets are Crowie, Pandan, Bat Island, Lu-Li Island, Snake Island, Starfish Island and many more. Each island is excellent for swimming, snorkelling and diving. For a glimpse into Palawan's rich historical past, culture and heritage, don't miss the Puerto Princesa Palawan National Museum. The museum showcases rare archaeological and ethnological collections including jars, porcelain, hunting tools of by ancestral man; musical instruments, brassware and artifacts from Tabon Caves, and antique wares found in Cuyo that date back to the Spanish era. A smaller collection of archeological artifacts and prehistoric diggings - fossils and crude tools of ancient man - are also on display at the Palawan State College Museum.
