Texas Instruments Philippines and Moog Controls expand operations in Baguio City
Baguio Philippines - Dec 2, 2005
Texas Instruments Philippines Inc. and New York-based Moog Controls Corporation are expanding operations inside Camp John Hay, Baguio City.
A source said the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has already entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Bases Conversion Development Authority for the lease of a 6.52-hectare property inside Camp John Hay that would be used for Texas Instruments and Moog's expansion programs.
The two firms are set to start the construction of their additional production facilities soon.
The property being leased is adjacent to the 25-hectare complex of Texas Instruments Philippines inside the sprawling 116-hectare Baguio Export Processing Zone. The company needs additional three hectares for its new expansion program.
Last year, Texas Instruments Philippines informed Malacañang of its plans to invest additional $300 million over the next three years to jack up its production output by as much as 50 percent.
At present, Texas Instruments is one of the country's top exporters. It is the single biggest exporter at the Baguio City Export Processing Zone.
Its new investments would be used to manufacture new products, including the high performance chips used for networking and software application, and the stack die used in 3G phones.
On the other hand, Moog committed last year to invest at least $40 million for business expansion in the country. Moog manufactures precision control components and systems for commercial aircraft, satellites, and space vehicles.
